Pakuranga Heights Koanga Festival 2015

Ka Pai Kiri, Kayson, Wilson, Aaliyah, Emily and Manuel from room 8 and the Kapa Haka group on your performance on Saturday. It was spectacular to watch all your hard work come together so beautifully.

Inquiry learning

Pukeko and Takahe.

We read an article about the recent shooting of four Takahe that were mistaken for Pukeko.
We decide to find our more about each and did a venn diagram to compare them.
We definitely can tell the difference between each.

Junior assembly

Today we had Junior assembly.
We'll done Serina, Wilson, Brooklyn and Cindy for receiving a certificate. Keep up the awesome work.

We also did an item with room 10 using boom whackers and then sang a poem Popcicle.
It was outstanding!

Another fantastic item at assembly was the Kapa Haka performance. Fabulous performance!

INQUIRY - Animals

Today we sorted out the animal cards, We had to categorise them into groups like scientists do.

What other groups could you make?

Then we grouped them into size....

Science experiments

How clean are you hands?
We are looking at how clean our hands are in room 8. We used a control (untouched) piece of bread. A piece touched with freshly washed and clean hands and a piece that everyone touched.

Check out the mould that is growing on our bread.

Remember its important to wash your hands.

Exhibition art

We did shiloettes for our exhibition art. Using paint.
We started with our background which was done using dye and bleeding the colours together. Then we made stencils of native NZ birds for our shiloettes.
Dont they look stunning.
